Richmond city apartments..
Hey! first off I am a long time Richmonder.. I grew up there and moved to the Roanoke area about a year and a half ago. I was drawn to this area because of lower rent and a slower pace of life. I relocated here with my employer but unfortunatly things are changing with my job and I may be forced to move back. If that happens I will need a nice apartment but it needs to be affordable. My ideal apartment wisnt a cookie cutter style in a complex but one with charm and character like the one I am currently in (built in 1920's). I know that I want to be in the city. What area of the city do you think is less expensive for this type of apartment? the fan, shockoe bottom/church hill or carytown? I am not even certain that this move will take place but I'd like an idea of where I should be looking. Btw my ideal rent is less than $700 for a one bedroom. (I currently pay around $500 but know that will have to change.) Thanks for your help and input.

Also, try west of the boulevard/Museum District... just on the other side of the Boulevard from the Fan, and a bit quieter.

If you don't mind the VCU college scene you might want to check out the Chesterfield apartment building on Franklin. 1/1's go for about $700. Good views, cool amenities, nice community, close to stuff. Might be worth checking out.

+1 Yeah, you'll be further away from all of the college kids, if that is what you want.
