We are looking to relocate to VA and looking around Richmond area. We are leaving the 1st of july to visit and drive around to see what's nice and not. Could anyone help us: We love a "old" town w/ small stores on a main street. Are there any towns near richmond that have that nice town feeling center ? Family, community, etc etc We don't mind the commute to richmond... Please reply: schkeeper@hotmail.com

Ashland is a great place for small town feel and nice shops, etc. It is a minor commute into the city, a little pricey in some areas of town, but definately nice.
The crime rate is not bad there and the people there are great. Try a google search for there and Hanover County. Best of luck to you.

Default East of Richmond

You might check out the counties surrounding Richmond. I know New Kent county has that small town feel. Also Charlottesville.

Good luck!
