interracial dating/mixed children (Richmond: how much, house, neighborhoods)

How common is interracial dating in Richmond? Do folks not care in general, or do people still do double-takes? How much resentment is there for familes with children of mixed-racial descent? Are they accepted, or are there some neighborhoods to avoid?

I think it's pretty common around Richmond.

There's like 4 mixed families just on my block, though I live north of Richmond.

I doubt you'd find any real problems now-a-days. Of course, every city has it's areas to avoid, if you're any race.

I'm not quite moved here permanently yet (I'm in Richmond house hunting) but I know it wouldn't make a difference to me as my sister is white and bro-in-law is black and neice & nephew are biracial. Although I'm not sure my opinion counts as I'm extremely new. I've seen a decent # of interracial couples.

I am not from there, but I think that mixed children are beautiful. I have mixed nieces and I love them for who they are. They have the best of both worlds.

You have to understand that everyone will not accept things like that, but who cares. I don't have children, but might some day. If I have children who are mixed I will teach them what they need to know in order to over some these types of things.

People also need to prepare their children if they have mixed children. When I say prepare, I mean teach them that they are beautiful and raise them strong enough that they want buckle under the negativeness that will come at them because of their skin color.
