Road Rage and nasty people in Chesterfield County?
I was visting Chesterfield County to look for homes and encountered aggressive drivers- getting brighted- yelled at.. etc.
This makes me ask - is all of Chesterfield County trashy like this? Or is there a "good part of the county'" vs. "bad part of the county?"
It felt more like Newark NJ, than Richmond, VA.
Please shed some light on this becuase I am afraid to move here now!
Thanks!

Too many northerners in Chesterfield. Try looking west of 288. FYI for some reason it seems to be normal in the more populated parts of the county for people to drive, even during daytime hours, with the brights on or the fog lights always on. Also beware that its rare to see anyone signal. And if they do it won't make sense. Examples are turns on blinker to turn right and makes left turn. Or comes to a complete stop, turns and then signals. The best way to overcome this issue is to watch the front tires for what part of the lane they are wandering towards or if the car in front of you slows down for no reason. Yelling or horn honking is very rarely ever heard. Also beware of White Knuckle drivers in your rear view mirror. That means please move over so (s)he can pass.

Maybe you are a bad driver, or were driving slow?
Chesterfield County drivers are no different than any other part of Virginia.
Sounds like your experience was rare, or you contributed some how.

Dear Oleo,
Yes, of course it was my fault. From his point forward, I will be strive to refine my driving skills, specifically to ensure that no one ever drives aggressively near me again throughout the continental United States road system- particularly in Chesterfield County. Thanks to you, I am now prepared to move to Chesterfield County, safe and assured that I will never encounter road rage again, provided that I drive well myself. Thank you so much for sharing your profound insight and unparalleled wisdom, previously unbeknownst to mankind.

I have to agree that I have never experienced Chesterfield County to be any worse than anywhere else in Virginia.

Well.....Parts of the West End are worse. Try driving on West Broad between Short Pump and Glenside. They seem to drive like its 5:30pm 24-7. Plus has anyone noticed that Red Lights have become optional to stop for?

Walking in Chesterfield is tough, but the reason is a lack of sidewalks and intersections where pedestrians can't even see the traffic lights. I cross Hull Street because I walk a great deal for exercise. It is really putting your life in your hands. Yes we do have some rude drivers, but show me a metropolitan area with over a million people where you will not find rude people. To be perfectly honest, I find Chesterfield drivers to be less rude than drivers I have encountered in other busy urban areas. For one thing, it is considered impolite to use your horn in an excessive manner. As to short pump, the traffic there has become impossible. Just too many people, all trying to get somewhere in the shortest amount of time. I do not think it is being impolite, as much as it is overbuilding and lack of proper zoning.
