Job offer on Chamberlayne Ave
Hi all,
First posting here.
My question is: I got a job offer on Chamberlayne Ave, close to Laburnum.
How is the area?
Any tips about what to avoid? I'd be commuting to there from the hampton roads area from 8am to 5pm.
Thanks for any input!

I work on Brook Rd near Azalea and that whole area from where I am thru Chamberlayne to Laburnum is pretty....active to say the least. And I mean in the sense of police activity. Some parts of Laburnum are nice but closer to Chamberlayne, I would just lock all your doors and keep your eyes open (not to scare you). Just being honest. Henrico Police are always around that area.

I did drive thru the area last week. And I came to the same conclusion. I'll actually be on Chamberlayne proper. maybe a mile away from the business area.

You guys are silly. Chamberlayne at Laburnum is nothing to worry about. Locking your doors in the day time nonetheless is ridiculously excessive. You can walk around there during the day with no problems. Chamberlayne at Brookland Park is a bit sketchier, but still nothing that you need to lock your doors for during the day.

I lock my doors even in the nicest of areas. These days you cant trust anyone. I have heard horror stories one in particular. It was a pretty nice area of Roanoke about 6 or 7 months ago.. In broad daylight a guy opened a ladies door at a red light, got in, showed a gun and made her drive to Tennesee where he told her to let him out.. Luckily he didnt hurt her but I couldnt imagine how scary that would be... I agree with the other posters especially in that part of Henrico.. lock your doors.

I also lock my doors all the time, and I live in a nice area. There are crazy people everywhere. You're stupid not to lock up.

Yeah, because people are just getting yanked out of their cars all over the place. I must have seen three lying on the side of the road just today .
If you're worried about the area, don't take the job. Hardly any serious crime happens in that area...ever, though.

Commuting from Hampton Roads?? That would seem to be more of a problem than the location of the job.

well, been at the job for a few days now. Doesn't seem to be as bad as I feared. I still take precautions though.
