Question Free/low-cost advertising for my store's event?
I manage a bookstore in the area and would like to make the public aware of upcoming author signings. Can anyone advise me on how to build some media contacts through local papers, radio, etc.? I am not given a budget for advertising so anything I pay for will have to be out of pocket, which sort of defeats the purpose of earning a paycheck. Thanks for your help!

Definitely take advantage of Myspace/Facebook

Also try contacting a contributing writer over at Richmond entertainment, shopping, news, and classifieds | Richmond.com and have them add your event to the "Things to Do" widget on the front page.

craigslist has a community section...i look for yardsales on there so i'm sure people use it for events.
