Richmond Coliseum
What hotels are nearby -- like walking distance -- and are they in "safe" areas and reasonably priced? I'm originally from Va Beach and used to visit Richmond quite regularly but haven't in about 15 years.
Thanks.

Richmond Marriott @ 500 East Broad Street. (804) 643-3400
Its like 500 feet from the Coliseum.
Hilton Garden Inn is right across Broad Street from the Marriott so its a bit further away but still close enough to walk in 2 minutes. (804) 344-4300
The area is pretty safe. I wouldn't worry too much about it but of course, its in the middle of a downtown so I would use common sense (e.g. don't walk alone at 4am down a dark alley screaming "I HAVE CASH ON ME!")

The Downtown Marriot and Miller and Rhoads Hilton Garden Inn seem like the best choices.

I am at the Hilton Garden Inn right now. It is new, and nice. Just be prepared for an $18 a day valet/parking fee (plus tax). I didn't know about this, but thought I would share. It is a within walking distance to a good selection of food/dining too. I haven't been around much, but so far I am intrigued by the downtown area.
