I am relocating to Richmond soon and was wondering how the people in the city feel and interact with new comers. Is it a friendly place to be? I come from Philly and here people don't have a friendly attitude at all; everyone sticks to his/herself and their inner group of friends. How open is Richmond in this respect? Do individuals seem interested in meeting new people at all?

Depends on how old you are. If you are college aged or a yuppie under 30, it might be ok. Plenty of bars. Once you hit 30 it is a challenge, but that is the case with most cities. It is just harder to date in the 30's period since work is dominant and alot of women have kids and past relationship issues. It severly narrows the pool. After 40, you're good as people are more tolerant as they have been thru life themselves.
