Default What do you think of Mechanicsville?

I haven't heard many people talk about Mechanicsville on here. The houses are a little high at around $299, but my husband's job may be there.

I have two 6 year olds and am looking for a safe community, parks, good libraries, families.

Thanks!

Alley

I have family there. Several of them grew up there and ended up staying with their own families. I would say Hanover is a little more rural than Henrico or Chesterfield. If you don't like what you find in your research, look into eastern Chesterfield... I can make it there in about 25 minutes.

Mechanicsville to me is very suburban in feel everytime I've been through there. It has a lot of newer dvelopment just off of I-295 with all the big box stores. It's in Hanover county, but just over the Henrico border where Richmond is. There's a battlefield in between Mechanicsville and Richmond which might add to the rural feel, but it's not far at all from everything else in the northeren metro, such as Short Pump and Glen Allen. And another thing, since it's above Richmond it would make it easier to get to D.C. for it's world class amenities. That is if you get tired of Richmond's and want something different to do. Hope this helps.
