Stpattylady is on a distinguished road
Virginia Beach - about three hours from Charlottesville.

As far as very large lakes, there is Lake Gaston near the border of VA/NC I believe. There's Smith Mountain Lake near Lynchburg. Also Lake Anna north of Richmond. No large lakes in Charlottesville.
