I've noticed my area has become increasingly more accepting of the gay community and keep seeing more and more gay/lesbian couples walkin around town.

It's my home too so I'll criticize it all I want. Thanks for the comments from everyone else though.

Saying that Richmond is a dump I find offensive and am inclined to be un-helpful considering some of us call this "dump" home.

Richmond has all kinds of people, just like any other area of the world.
Can you give us an example of events or actions that were a result of your sexual preference?
Also, if these are random people, how would they know your sexual preference without you telling them?

You'd do a lot better to try and be a more positive person to effect change. Change starts with YOU. Whining will get you nothing but a very small violin being played.

I'm not whining I'm stating a fact based on personal experience. If you can't tell that your own comments are homophobic then I have no interest in trying to reason with you. First of all it's not a "preference", that makes you sound ignorant. Second of all, change starts with the people are standing in its way, Chessie. If people didn't give me dirty looks before I have a chance to say hi then maybe I'd be a little more positive. Until then, you don't know what you are talking about.

You are wrong. So so wrong. You ARE whining. No where is it written that people MUST like you on sight. Not a single one of us is given that right - I don't care what color you are, what gender, what sexual preference. (I never used the term "preference" earlier, so I have no clue who you were responding to - but "sexual preference" IS the correct term. )
You sound quite young, and I expect you have a lot of growing up to do. Good luck with that.

what i have experienced so often is that the people you mentioned react not to sexual orientation or color but to bad behavior in a very strong and direct manner.

If any of you had personal experience with this I might value what you had to say. But you don't.
and by personal experience i mean none of you are gay and i specifically asked gay people, i don't care what straight people have to say because you're the ones that are homophobic! i want advise from fellow gay people. thanks!

I'm not expecting people to like me on sight I'm expecting people to treat me how they do everyone else. And furthermore, you are wrong, it is called "sexual orientation".

Oh yes. That makes us "homophobic". How rich. Yeah...you have so much to learn. You really should get started soon. Life moves swiftly.
