Default Park and ride near Goochland

Hi, I am gonna be joining some friends from Virginia on a camping trip. I am coming from southeastern NC and they told me that we can meet up at the park and ride near Goochland and then leave my vehicle there for the weekend and ride the rest of the way with them. They are coming from the Virginia Beach area. I tried searching but could find no info as to whether it is ok the leave a vehicle there overnite. Does anyone know if it is ok? Thanks.

parkrva is on a distinguished road
I think you might be better off leaving you car in the Wal-Mart parking lot in Short Pump, which allows overnight and RV parking.

I don't remember but I think the Park n Ride has a no overnight parking sign.

64w to route 522. Make a left. It will be on the right near the intersection with 250 (blinking light). Its a two row parking area (unpaved) that holds about 30 cars. Last time I used it was about three years ago. This is the middle of nowhere sort of, but you can call the county office and ask. Here is the sheriff's office # 804-556-5349

I think most of the exits in Goochland County have Park and Ride lots. In addition to the one at 522, I know there's one on the north side of the Rockville/Manakin exit (173). Have never noticed a "no overnight parking" sign, but I will check. These lots seem "safe" to me, but I wouldn't leave anything out in the car for obvious reasons. The Wal-Mart lot is probably also a good option, as would be the Food Lion lot near Rt. 623 (about a mile south to 250, then 1/2 mile west). Goochland is remarkably quiet, generally speaking, sort of live-and-let-live. I think this link lists all of Virginia's Park and Ride lots: www.rideshareinfo.org/pdf/ParkRideLots.pdf
Enjoy your trip.

Like I said, the lot is on the north side of Exit 173 (Rt. 623/Ashland Rd). It holds about 50 cars and was almost full today (but it's a weekday) at 2PM. There is no sign at this lot that says "No Overnight Parking," no signs of any kind that I saw. It's a gravel lot, but well-maintained and most cars were parked politely.

Be safe and enjoy your trip.
