Highland Springs a nice area for two 22 year olds out of college?
Hi everyone, my girlfriend and I just graduated from Penn State, and both decided that we wanted to move to the Richmond area to persue Communications jobs (we're both journalism majors). We looked at a few apartments around the area before deciding on a really nice looking townhouse apartment in Highland Springs. In the half-day or so of exploring the area, it seems like a small, nice little town that's not that far away from downtown Richmond and other areas with job opportunites. Any opinions or comments about the area, as well as tips for living there would be much appreciated. Thanks!

highland springs is a nice diverse community with a lot of townhouse apts, i would look just a little further out by the airport and rent a small house in sandston,it may be cheaper for a house there than a apt. in highland springs

Hey, thanks for responding so quickly. Actually, we have already put down our security deposit for the townhouse. It's not expensive at all, really. 610 dollars per month for 1100 sq. feet of nice townhouse. Thanks for the advice though.
Anyone else?

Unfortunatly I have had the not so great privilage of living in Highland Springs. It's a blue collar type of town. A lot of people work in the construction field. Painers, roofers, carpenters etc.... Kids tend to run wild and can be bothersome at times. Not a lot to do as far as, well, anything really. The closest place to find a good form of entertainment would be either downtown or VCC (Virginia Center Commons) area. Lots of shopping and eating options but they are both within a 15-20 minute drive. Just not worth it in my opinion.

I agree. Or even Chesterfield near the county airport.

Highland Springs is kind of full of peckerwoods. I would not live there. The Fan would be a much better choice for young people.
