I Have Heard The West End Of Richmond (broad St.) Called Glen Allen
But I Always Placed It North West Of Town Where Va.center Commons Mall Is. (rt 1 and I-295) From What Little Ive Been Over There It Seemed Like A Nice Little Community Which Had A Big Mall Dumped In It. I Wouldnt Mind Living In Glen Allen ..away From The Mall Though

Talking Glen Allen

I live in the West End of Richmond, near Glen Allen. Glenn Allen starts sort of behind the Innsbrook area, and sort of arcs around to the Hanover county line over by Virginia Center Commons mall. The mall is a really nice area - I went to college at Randolph-Macon which is just up Rt 1, and VCC was always an oasis to get away from Ashland for a little bit. The area around the mall is kept up very nicely, and there are a lot of apartment complexes around. I really like the Glen Allen area, no matter what part of it you are in.

The schools in the district are pretty good... having no children, I can't really tell you much, other than I hear Deep Run high school is amazing, its brand new and has taken a lot of kids away from the other area high schools.

Traffic is so-so, and varies from where you are in Glen Allen. If you are in Glen Allen down by VCC, traffic can be a pain around lunch time and around 5, because of the access to I295. Parham Road, which takes you from Rt 1 - Broad Street can be heavy then too. Otherwise, there really isn't that much traffic. The same thing goes for if you're around Innsbrook... the traffic on Nuckols road is crazy at rush hour and on nights during the summer when they have their "after hours" concerts at the pavillion. There are some really nice housing developments down Nuckols, as well as nice condos and apartment complexes. Its a much more affluent and quiet area of Richmond.

Overall, I highly reccomend Glen Allen/West End of Richmond. You still have all the convience of the 'city' lifestyle, but you don't have to deal with downtown Richmond. I love living in the West End!
