Me and my brother-in law are headed to Richmond from DC on Saturday, June 19th for a NASCAR driving class at Richmond International Raceway. W e plan to stay the night and enjoy some food and beverage afterwards…U know, have a good time. I would prefer to stay at a NICE hotel that is walkable to restaurants and bars and in area that has some action at night. What areas and hotels do you recommend?

Downtown Marriott or Hilton Garden Inn.

Both are on the 500 block of East Broad St.

I think the addresses are 500 E. Broad for the Marriott, and 501 for the Hilton. They are directly across from each other.

The Berkley is in Shockoe Slip and is very nice or you could always stay at the Jefferson or Linden Row Inn.

Absolutely love the new Westin on West Broad! Love the smell when you first walk in! They serve ice cold water near the entry thats soaking up juices from fresh, in season, fruit. Employees are all friendly and willing to make your stay fabulous!

Yeah the Westin is probably nice..but it certainly doesn't meet the "walkable to restaurants and bars and in area that has some action at night" criteria.

I'd say nothing quite beats the double tree hotel by the richmond airport. I've stayed there plenty of time when i visit my family and friend in richmond and they always make each stay brand new and exciting. and their soft baked chocolate cookies mmmmmmm (my mouth is watering right now lol)

I'll be in Richmond around the same time and I called the Westin, but the room rates were so high. But the place looks awesome.
Embassy Suites is getting old. So I guess the Courtyard by Marriott is the next best for my standards. Travelling with teenager....need a suite so he can do his "own" thing.

I love Richmond. People are friendly there.
