Property Management in Roanoke, VA
I am moving from the Roanoke area and would like to rent out my house. Does anyone know any reliable property managers? Park Place Realty and Hall Associates has already checked out my house and both seem pretty good at what they do. If anyone has dealt with these two or a different Roanoke property manager I would appreciate your opinion.

Property Mgmt in Roanoke
I own some rental property in Salem/Roanoke and I have never been impressed with property managers. Some local "managers" charge a 10% commission to "manage" your property while others charge 20%. I have had some good tenants and some bad ones. Always be alert when your rental check is not coming in, many times the tenants do not pay. Don't be nice about it!! Of all the property mangers I have used, they all represent the tenant, in my opinion. If you don't get paid, thats you're bad luck! I have had some tenants actually get off in Salem of not paying rent for 3 months!! They left town. When I inquired to Salem, the city could care less!! Obviously, you will need a property manager for your property since you are moving. If you would like a name of one I have used in Roanoke, email me.
Good Luck!!

Contact Greene Lawson. His number is in the Yellow Pages. I was very happy with my transaction with him, though I was a tenant, not an owner. He was very responsive to tenant needs, but not a pushover, (my children broke a door and I had to replace it) and very professional in his manner.

We are just moving to the roanoke area. We have property and will build but are looking at renting for a year. My husband is just retiring from the British Army - so a big change for both of us. Anyone know of any nice property for rent not outrageous prices. Not sure about good areas and bad as not lived there yet. Our property is in Goodview. Many thanks Sharon

Best place to start is craigslist: roanoke classifieds for jobs, apartments, personals, for sale, services, community, and events, many home rentals get posted there. The most comprehensive place is the classified section of Roanoke.com: Breaking news, sports, and weather from The Roanoke Times newspaper but it is very hard to navigate.
Coming from New England, I haven't yet found what I felt was an outrageous rental price in the Roanoke area. Outrageously low perhaps. Most rates appear to be 50-75% of the mortgage debt service required were you to buy something similar with 20% down.
