I think I remember that your husband is looking for a job in Roanoke? Would it be downtown or in a different quadrant of the valley? If he were working in downtown Roanoke, the most equitable location as a middle point would be the 24087 zip code (Elliston / Lafayette area). You'd be about a 25 minute drive to downtown Roanoke or Radford. A home in Christiansburg with convenient access to the interstate would still be 40 minutes away from downtown Roanoke but about 20 from Radford. The 24087 would have a very small town or a well-settled rural feel, rather than a town or suburban feel to it.

Yes, that's what we were thinking, in fact we found a pretty cool house in Elliston but there were other factors that disqualified it...But of course that all assumes that he'll get a job in Roanoke. If he works in the NRV area, we wouldn't have to be so close to Roanoke. Not that I would mind: we've seen and really like the places mentioned in this forum! But, to live in Roanoke and work in Radford would be too hard
Luckily we can move out there without a second income right away so he's got some time to find exactly what he wants. |

You'd be much happier if he could land a job in B'burg or Radford. Less driving, particularly on I-81, which is quite busy during rush hours. Blacksburg is a really nice town. We lived on the north side of Blacksburg for about 9 months before we moved to Boones Mill and bought a farm.
