Default service recommendations in roanoke

I am moving to roanoke, and am looking for recommendations on a couple of services. I will be off 220E initially, then building probably on the S/SE side (hardy/boones mill areas). So providers in "quadrant IV" (surely you remember your Cartesian geometry...) area are are preferred.

1. a veterinarian for whole fam damily, two cats and a dog. I'd rather not deal with docs who push unnecessary services and therapy just to boost profits.

2. a psychologist/therapist/counselor. I'd prefer a woman, and I lean towards new-age philosophy; yoga, meditation, purposeful existance, etc. But I don't go as far as angels, rocks and crystals, pyramid power, and space aliens ;-}

I have been casting about for a new home for about a year, and considered Lynchburg, Danville, Charlottesville, and Roanoke. Roanoke obviously won, due largely to the demographics (I'm a newly-50, newly-single guy), the general arts/culture of the area, and the presence of a UU church. I love the city market area, it seems like every time I blow into town for a look around there is something happening down there.

Cheers!

I highly recommend Veterinarians to Cats on Electric Rd. for your kitties. They are wonderful there and most people I know use their services. I live in Botetourt County and drive down there.

Check into Blue Ridge Behavioral Health for a counselor.

Hrm, is there a 220E? If you mean Rt 220 N/S then I know where you're talking about. And if you're looking at settling in the Hardy/Boones Mill area then I'd recommend the Pet Clinic of Rocky Mount. It's just off Route 220S; take the first exit into Rocky Mount, and just past the Bowling Alley and just before the Technology Drive/YMCA intersection you'll see it. We have two dogs, one cat, a snake and several other critters we take there and we're really happy. I know the vets personally through mutual friends and they're great people. In their late thirties; they moved their family down here from NoVA for a slower pace and bought the practice several years ago. Early this year one of our dogs (great dane) had a very severe case of HGE and they turned her around overnight and she recovered completely. They also offer short term boarding and the service is real nice, but for the best boarding kennel in the area I'd go with Aspen Grove B&B just off 220 in between Clearbrook and Boones Mill.

I don't have any psychologists to recommend - sorry!

Sean

Default my bad

Sean-

Yeah I kinda mispoke. I will be just off 220 ON the east side of town, not on the nonexistant 220E.

Thanks for your reply -
