I might move to SW Virginia and I'm wondering where I can get my Indian food fix. Which towns/cities have any Indian restaurants? How about Thai? (I'm looking at a long range of places between Galax and Roanoke and will be travelling around a lot to fish, so distances for a once-a-month visit will mean little to me.) Are there any small, international grocery stores where I can buy obscure Asian food supplies? How about Middle Eastern? Many thanks.

Good Indian, Thai and Lebanese restaurants in Roanoke. Don't know about the specialty grocery markets - maybe someone else will chime in!

Indian Restaurants
The best Indian is downtown Roanoke, Nawab across from Roanoke city market. Taaza off Franklin Rd is good also . Blacksburg has some Indian restaurants and international markets, I'm sure Lynchburg does also.

I've eaten at all three that you mention and the place in Blacksburg is OK but not great. I had goat the last time I was at Taaza and it was very tasty - came home and once again threatened Zugor, my big goat that he'd be going on the barbie if he didn't behave, but he just rolled his eyes and butted me with his big horns.
