Default Roanoke vs. Wheeling WV

Ok.....I'm sure there's a few of you who have been/lived/know about both places. Here's my questions :

Which place has better weather? { I like hot weather}

Which place has the better economy as far as overall job growth and down the road potential?

Which place is more progressive culturally?

Which place has the better mix of country/city living?

Last but not least.....which place is more affordable as far as purchasing property/housing?

I'd appreciate any posters outlook.

Thanks in advance!

Smile Roanoke va. vs. wheeling wv.

Which place has better weather? { I like hot weather}
In the summer I would say both are pretty much the same Roanoke averages in the 80's, some days are worse in the 90's. Humidity is pretty bad here.. In the winter Wv. gets more snow.

Which place has the better economy as far as overall job growth and down the road potential?
I've never been to Wheeling, Wv before but I have lived in Roanoke for a little less than a year and one thing I always hear people gripe about is the jobs here.. But I also hear that in Wv the job situation is even worse. But Roanoke is a bigger city and I believe has a very bright future ahead.. Especially in the medical field.. the hosptial beside my house keeps getting bigger... which of course will bring more jobs.

Which place is more progressive culturally?
I would guess Roanoke like I said never been to Wheeling but Roanoke has many cultures here.. mainly a white population, but I often see foriegners. I think the area itself is welcome to different cultures.. I just dont think Wv. is progressive at all when it comes to different cultures.

Which place has the better mix of country/city living?
Like I said before Roanoke is a bigger city.. but has country all around it. I would guess Wheeling is a lot smaller and mostly rural.

Last but not least.....which place is more affordable as far as purchasing property/housing?
Probably Wheeling Wv. I hear homes are cheaper in Wv. but compared to many other places in Va. Roanoke is cheap espcially for a town of this size.

I guess my post is a little biased.. but to be honest I dont know a whole lot about West Va. at all. Roanoke is a great town and I feel a great place to call home. Good luck!

Default Wheeling & Roanoke

When I visited Wheeling I was impressed with the downtown area. If someone liked nightlife then there were many late night clubs open. Roanoke people would go wild about Ogelbay Park. The lodge had a spa, fine dining,
close to skiing, gardens, etc. This is something Roanoke should look at on Mill Hill(That is IF the Fishburns' don't object).
Its very close to the big city of Pittsburgh. In the area there are glass blowing factories and riverboats. We visited Morgantown, home of WVU and rode the monorail also. Anyone who visits Wheeling will have a nice stay!!
West Va is an awesome state!!
