Hello All ~ In the many months I have spent researching the Roanoke area for our relocation, I had not considered the possibility of moving to Botetourt county (close to Roanoke). Recently I learned that there are some advantages to living there - primarily lower taxes. It also seems houses are a little more affordable and many come with mountain views which we find appealing. I also heard this is an "up and coming" area. We are still interested in living near amenities and medical care but it sounds like these things may still be within a reasonable distance.

We do not have children and it seems we would be paying a premium to live in the Cave Spring area because of the great schools. From what I gather, Cave Spring is another area with wonderful mountain views so it might make sense for us to look at 24019 or the Botetourt county area to find the same with a lower cost of living. We do want to stay close or in Roanoke.

By the way, I was also told that it's more expensive to live in Salem than Roanoke.

I would love to hear some pros and cons of living in Botetourt county.

Thanks so much.
