I want to say a HUGE thank you to Watchful, Roanoke Wahoo, headnsouth and so many others on this forum that answered so many of the questions I wondered while researching where to 'retire' after my husband retired from the military. I read so many forums here on city data and researched places from Washington state to Florida and hundreds of cities in between. I kept coming back to the Roanoke forum, visited in 2014 and fell in love!!! We have been living here now for one year and I couldn't be happier with my decision. We love it here!! We have met wonderful neighbors, found great scout troops for our son and daughter and enjoy all of the outdoor amenities on the weekends!! The Greenway is one of our favorite perks to living here. I highly recommend Roanoke as a wonderful place to live, raise a family and one day retire in!

Hi LoveRoanoke,

Thank you for writing - it's very reassuring! We are trying to get moved by mid- to end- October. Our two youngest boys are Scouts (in fact, our whole family are Scouts). Can you recommend a few good Troops?

Thanks!

We live in the Bonsack/Vinton area and have found great troops here. Once you find your home, let me know what area of Roanoke and I can get you information on local troops. (I have a connection to the Boy Scout Store.).

Hi again, LoveRoanoke! We will be in the Cave Spring area of town but up the mountain. We don't mind driving for a good troop! Thank you kindly for your help!
