Default Market

Try the Oriental Market at 3637 Williamson Road in Roanoke. Phone 362-1917.
I love Filipino food. My favorite is lumpia and ponzit. When I visited Juneau, Alaska I noticed they had a very nice Filipino restaurant in the middle of nowhere. In an area of 300,000 I think Roanoke needs a Filipino restaurant. I believe we have many people here of Phillipine descent. Lets call it Manilla Cafe lol.

I just retired from the USAF Security Forces after 26 years! I'm back in Va, Roanoke is my hometowm of where I wish to build my retirement home! My asawa-ko is Pinay from Pasig! She'll be here in a few months with my step-daughter! I've been searching the internet for a Fil-Am Organization in Roanoke, but have found nothing! If someone could point me to a Filipino network, cause I know how y'all are , I'd be greatly obliged!

Hell, I need some Adobo and lumpia shanghai! And some rumbotan! Meganon?!

Salamat Po!

Devastatin_1, contact Pearl Fu at Local Colors. If a Filipino network exists in the area, she will know about it. And if there isn't one, she'll recruit you to create one! She's amazing.

Default Asian Grocery Stores

There are several Asian grocery stores in Roanoke. Aside from previously mentioned Oriental Market, which is quite good, there are also these:

Fresh Oriental Market 2501 Williamson Rd NE, Roanoke 265-6828
J & L Oriental Food Mart 3109 Brambleton Ave, Roanoke 774-8878
Oriental Food Market 1422 Peters Creek Rd NW, Roanoke 562-2069
Taipei Supermarket 3120 Peters Creek Road, Roanoke 265-7190
Ambika Indian Grocery 4520 Brambleton Ave, Roanoke 725-3735

Most of these are shown on a map here:

As for a Filipino restaurant, I think you will have to go a long way outside Roanoke to find one. If you happen to be in a Staples store, they often have operating GPS units on display. The new large screen Magellan has an extensive listing of restaurant types, including Filipino. Set your location and it will show you the closest ones. (Their sorting ends up with a lot of other stuff that gets mixed in, but some of the names will pop out at you - like Manila Cafe outside D.C.)
