Anything for an 18-year old? (Richmond, Roanoke: house, purchasing, college)

Hello all! This is my first post on here!

My parents and I are moving to Roanoke in June, but I am in the area at least once a month. All of our family lives there, and we are the only ones in Richmond. I am 18 years old and will be attending Virginia Western in the fall.

We're planning on purchasing a house that is near Gus Nicks, where it meets 460. I have plenty of friends in Richmond, but I know no people my age in Roanoke. I was wondering if anyone knows of any way for me to meet people my age? The only people I know that are semi-close to my age are my cousin and my brother of which are both 28 years old.

Also, is the underage partying scene very big? Coming from Richmond, there is a big problem with underage drinking, but honestly, that isn't the type of thing that I am interested in. I enjoy meeting new people and going to parties, but I was unaware of how frequent these may occur.

Wow we have a lot in common it seems! I am from Richmond too and around the same age! I moved here when Ukrop's opened its new store here almost a year ago (wow time goes by quick!). I love living in Roanoke.. I dont have as many friends here as I did back in Richmond but I enjoy having a small circle of friends which I have here. You should private message me your email/myspace or something.. All my friends back home thought I was crazy (and probably still do) when I decided to move here.. But I havent regretted the move yet and dont think I ever will! Hope to hear from you soon!

Im in the exact opposite situation as you two.

Im from Roanoke and I just moved to Richmond for college.

You'll be going to Virginia Western tho, so thats a pretty decent place to meet friends your age.

By the way, I like the Roanoke Ukrops 10x better than any Ukrops in Richmond.
