Any construction worker here?
I have a question, sorry for OT. What do you call that thing, the little pieces (very thin and light) on top of a roof? Not tile, tile is on the floor, I wasn't born with silver spoon in my mouth, however, not into this sort thing...
Quick web digging has not yielded a satisfactory answer.
Thanks.

There are asphalt or composite shingles:
There are cedar roof shakes (also called cedar roof shingles or cedar shakes & shingles):
There are clay tiles:
There are slate tiled roofs also just called "slate roofs":
Wheee! English is not confusing at all!

Thank you both. Wow, Sean, you seem an expert in all sorts of things, I sent you an email two days ago, hope it's not lost. Also, just checked out your site, like the image on top, creative indeed!

I'm a fountain of mostly useless knowledge but once in a while I throw out some real zingers!
