I like to drive along the Blue Ridge Parkway. From approximately milepost 143 near Pine Spur Overlook I can see a church or mausoleum being built. Does anyone know the name of this church or mausoleum? A parkway employee told me that you cannot get to the building from the parkway. I think maybe you have to approach it from Franklin County. Does anyone know how to get to this large church building with a high steeple?
Thanks, Patrick |

What you're probably referring to is Syon Abbey. Syon Abbey, Virginia
It's a monstary for Roman Catholic monks who are part of the Benedictine Tradition. According to the Web site, this building is fairly new. I've gone by before, and it is very visible from the Parkway, though I don't know how to actually get to it. |
