Default Salem GE

I am a long-time GE employee in the Midwest. Our plant is closing and several of my co-workers are looking to relocate, as am I. We have been told the Salem plant is hiring a few. Anyone here have any information on the plant history or living in Salem in general.

Thanks

Salem and the Roanoke area is a great place to call home. GE moved its Schenectady, NY plant to to Salem in 1956 and a number of New Yorkers relocated with them. Here is a recent article:

Thanks for the link. Sounds interesting. Energy is the area that I am looking to move into. I need 7 years to retire early and 12 for a full retirement. I would like to go somewhere that I thought I stood a chance of getting that without having to move again.
