Default Roanoke Election Poll Workers Get Paid?!

Just wondering if anyone else knew that you can get paid $145 for working as an election official on election day?

I was willing to do it for free because of the magnitude of this election, and was pleasantly surprised to discover that I would be compensated $145 for my time.

I know that they have a shortage of workers for the election in November, but don't you think that more people would sign up if they knew about the pay?

I think this would be a great way to help our community and ensure the quality of the vote in our area.

Any thoughts on this?

I have been doing this for the last three elections. It is a long day, but I do it for the same reason you want to do it. Yes, you do get paid and I was surprised also when I volunteered.

After a while, you work with the same people and it's fun. Everyone gets a specific job or two by the captain and it usually runs very smoothly.

Give it a try. I think you will like it.

I was wondering how much taxes they take out. It would be kind of funny if they took most of the money back in taxes. It doesn't really matter, just wonderding.

Where can I find out more information about this? I'm interested, but I'm new to Roanoke and haven't heard anything about it.

They don't take any taxes out. You handle the taxes yourself.

To get information on this, contact your county Voter Registration office. Each county has its own. I'm in Botetourt County which is located in Fincastle.
