Default adolescent birthday ideas?

My son is turning 13 next week & I'd like to make it a fun first birthday in Roanoke for him. We thought about taking him & some friends to a midnight movie but the one at the Grandin this weekend looks pretty bad. Also Thunder Valley but I don't want to buy "driver's licenses" for all the kids in addition to the pizza-tokens-laser tag. Jeez louise!

Any other ideas? Probably a half-dozen or so punks, boys & girls both.

Thunder Valley is about as much fun as a 13 year old can have without breaking any laws. I know it's expensive but he's the perfect age for it. My daughter absolutely loved Thunder Valley when one of her friends had a party there.

There is the putt putt fun center, if it is still open:
