I live in Grandin Court and really like it here. We got a nice sized home on a great lot for much less that your budget. Of course, it was a fixer. The Murray Greenway is very close to us and we like to use it often. I must say that I feel pretty safe in this neighborhood.

I don't have kids so I don't know a lot about how the schools really are in this area. I do know that Patrick Henry seems to have a nice band, I hear them practicing a lot in the afternoon and they were great in the parade the other night.

If I were visiting in January I would certainly check out the Taubman Museum and Center in the Square. There are lots of places to browse and have a meal in the downtown area. If you are over in the Grandin Village area you can catch a movie at the restored Grandin Theater, have a nice dinner at one of the great restaurants, or if you are just needing a snack you can stop in at Pop's Ice Cream. Pop's serves Homestead Creamery ice cream, it is local and it is great! If you want a great cup of coffee you could head over to Brambleton Ave. and have a cup at Brambleton Blend, the best coffee I have encountered!

I like Mojo too. Have you tried Brambleton Blend? If not you should! I patronize both establishments according to what mood I am in. Actually, BB is a really nice after church place for us.

matthews1965 will become famous soon enough
I live in ,and am a HUGE fan of Raleigh Court and Grandin village. So try lunch at one of the great restaurants and walk around!! This is a family oriented neighborhood and it has only become better since I was a child, and when I raised my children here. My brother moved back "home" from MD (lives in Raleigh Ct) and my son recently came home from Miami. It's simply a WONDERFUL place to raise a family. Roanoke has soooo many wonderful neighborhoods, as you will see - and I believe you'll recognize YOUR neighborhood and will receive our typical "warm welcome".
Sooo ...hear's a warm welcome to ya!
