Make a decision and if a car pulls in front of you don't pick up your cell phone, log in here and ask if you should hit the brakes or turn left or right.
Call the cops

SHAME ON YOU!!!
I've met this girl. She has no personality. Never says anything. I doubt she'll jump. Someone may push her, though. I hope she doesn't fall onto Williamson Rd. That would back up traffic.

There are some things in life that are laughable, and to make jokes about. THIS IS NOT ONE OF THEM. I'd have called 911 first.

I'm floored and saddened that I happened into this forum. I can't believe someone had the nerve to type something like the above in a public forum - especially around the holidays. I am so embarrassed and ashamed for you. So what if you've met her and she has a personality of a brick, what does that matter? She's a human. If she "never says anything" how could you possibly know that she has no personality?

What if you had taken the time to be kind, and that your kindness made the difference of her not jumping? Now that would be something to write about.

What happened to compassion to fellow humankind? This is pure ugliness.

All right, all right, enough. Obviously none of you actually live in Roanoke. The girl in question is a sculpture. "She" is sitting on the wall on the deck of the new Taubman Art Museum, just a few feet from the Williamson Rd. bridge. She is sitting with her feet on the inside of the wall; however, when the sculpture was first put into place, her feet were on the outside, and to the people in cars driving by it did look as if there were a girl thinking of jumping off the wall.

There is no girl who is going to jump. The original poster was joking. Why in the world would somebody leave a post here asking if they should call the police over a potential jumper?

This has been a running joke around Roanoke for a couple of months now--the "art museum jumper."

Here's a photo of the "girl" in question. Read the comments--they're interesting.

Most likely it is not a real story as analyzed by Tish Thompson. On the low side of human value/belief system, that of an individual especially if it's a nobody, it usually does not carry much weight. But figures like Hitler are definitely of a totally different magnitude, watched a bit of Triumph des Willens last night, other than the 'muscle' element of the music I wasn't "impressed", however, were I a 'normal' German, born during that time, how would I have reacted to it might have been another question. Organized evil in the name of good is most damaging regardless of time and space.

I wouldn't be surprised to read someone in earnest posting such (some posts are amazing) -you obviously haven't read many threads.

Yes, obvious enough now. I thought humankind had stooped to a new level.

I agree. I've seen some pretty crazy posts and this one seemed real enough. I am so thankful it is a spoof. I seriously question the taste of the museum for having such a 'piece.' Seems like it would cause a lot of accidents and unnecessary calls to police.

Perhaps joking about this subject manner on a public board is inappropriate. Many people are burdened with depression during the holidays and could be contemplating the unthinkable. As a PP mentioned - this subject is no joking matter, this time of year or anytime.

Right. Many people's first reaction upon seeing someone they believe is about to jump off a 2nd story balcony is to post a thread on a website from their cell phone.
