Fork in the Alley is wonderful. The atmosphere & crowd is laid back & much more decent than your typical pizza dive. You can select the "Make your own pizza" option & select toppings such as sundried tomatoes & carmelized onions... you know...toppings you would find in a place offering more than greasy pepperoni. Oh, & the Jamaican Jerk Chicken on their pizza ia amazing!
We love sundried tomatoes, onions, jamaicam jerk chicken, & broccoli on ours...the flavors really work together :-)

Sounds great minus the broccoli!! :-) I love Fia too was there this past Friday! It truely is a South Roanoke Icon!! The funnest thing is when my drunk friends & I walk past that wine bistro place where the people are sitting in the window with their wine and dress clothes.. meanwhile were going into Fork in the Alley for some beer and pizza! :-) Hehe I love my life in South Roanoke!

"It's the closest thing to a real northeast (NJ, NYC, wherever) pizza that I've had since moving to VA. The real deal."
Thank you for the advice. For us up here that ranks right up with crime, schools, and taxes.

This is only tangentially related but if you're dying for some Chicago deep dish, you can order it from Lou Malnoti's and get it shipped in a dry ice box, ready to cook:
Lou Malnati's Pizzas
When I did a bunch of Pro Bono web development work years ago for a large school district in Illinois, they would ship me some Malnoti's as a gift. THAT WAS SOME DAMN GOOD PIZZA.

Just a question, is Fork In the Alley beside a 7 Eleven?

Yes. There is a small walkway between the 7 Eleven and Tony Pope Bistro (a white cottage house with a white picket fence around it). I spent 15 minutes driving up and down the block and then asked at the 7 Eleven! Check out the 'street view' feature on Google Maps.

We've tried them all and it depends on how far we want to travel at the time.
Bellacino's and Lil Cucci's are decent (in Daleville) for us Botetourt people. Grace's ranks #1 for us and FITA is a close #2 if you want thin crust.
None of them are close to what we could get in other states. I really wish someone would open a great pizza place in Roanoke!

Hey, you know, Roanoke is on my list of places where I'm thinking of moving, and I'll need something to do for a living....

Definitely a good business idea!
Ideas for other restaurants we lack in Roanoke is another thread completely!
