Question homeschooling?

I am raising my four year old granddaughter and I thought about homeschooling, but someone said that is not allowed in va anymore, The last time I heard anything about homeschooling, you had to be certified, and your child had to take tests every so often, does anyone know, have they done away with homeschooling in Va?

I am currently homeschooling my 6 year old and plan to include my 4 year old next year as well. It is VERY easy to homeschooling in VA. You need at least a high school diploma, and have to test once a year starting in first grade (unless using a religious exemption, then no testing is required). Look up VA state law on this to find specifics. I just sent a letter to the school district saying I was going to homeschool, an outline of what I planned on teaching, a copy of my degree and that is it.
