What is the distance from roanoke airport to the downtown area (apartments, lease)

CAN YOU TELL ME THE DISTANCE FROM THE AIPORT TO DOWNTOWN ROANOKE?
I MAY HAVE A JOB AND I AM WONDERING IF THERE ARE CHEAP ROOMS TO RENT OR HOUSES TO SHARE?
i HAD A LEASED CAR AND TURNED IT IN BECAUSE MY JOB WAS ELIMANTED.
hOW IS THE PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION TO THAT AIRPORT.
HOW IS THE NIGHT LIFE?

It's about 4 or 5 miles depending on which end of downtown you want.
There are both houses to share and cheap rooms but I couldn't tell you much more than that. There is a thread on apartments ongoing...
There is a good bus system and it looks like the Valley View mall bus covers the airport.
