Default radford VS Christiansburg

earlier, I posted a question of where I should be moving to. Blacksburg or Christianburg or Radford.
After all the helpful thoughts and my own thinkig,
for the main reason that it would be too much unnecessary commute. I work in Radford, why would I have to drive at least 30 minutes one way everyday. The hypothetical benefits of blacksburg are
1.faster resale when possible moving out (but here notice that there is not huge likelihood)
2. school( but my child is only barely 1 year old)
I simply decided to live my life easier rather than suffering it for something that only might happen in the future. I figured I can probably move 10 years down the road for my child to go to a better school. but for now, spending 1 hour both way on the road while I really don't have to, does not sound sane to me...
Simply put, the unsure benefits don't justify daily suffering. WHAT DO YOU THINK? I AM STILL NOT SURE HOW THE TRAFFIC IS?
assuming I am debating between Christiansburg and Radford now. Any help ? THANKS in advance.

B. fast resale ( chances of moving out of VA is not huge, about 30% that we want to go somewhere else if my husband truly cannot find a job in NRV.
Cons: pricey and I don't like weekend hokie games and the traffic could not so bad..thought I am not sure how that works

2. Radford

Pros. A. I work in this town. should be convenient for me.
B very good houses for affordable amount of money

Cons. A. have to move out of it when my son needs to go to highschool
B. if we have to sell it three years down the road, it might get hard because it is such a small town and nobody moves in much?

3. Christiansburg
Pro. close to shopping? easier to sell in several years/

I don;t know really.... you tell me?

I would really appreciate some suggestions here. THANKS

I am realizing that I repeated the same questions posted before. sorry about that.
I want to specify my question that's more relevant to our situation ,and different from others.
Being a member of ethnic minority(Asian to be accurate), I know how it is like to encounter ignorant people sometimes. I don't want a very closed and conservative environment for my child, he is one year old now. I know Blacksburg is definitely more diversified place and could be our ideal choice in that regard. so my question is---
is the difference between blacksburg and C-burg/radford so big that it would justify my 30 minutes drive daily?
honestly, I would do anything for my child. I would not mind moving to Blacksburg if it is definitely better for him. and the cost of living is not an issue here either.
Thank you for your input if any

According to google maps you're really only shaving off 10 minutes each way by living in Christiansburg over Blacksburg. I went to VT so am biased towards Blacksburg, but I did do a daily commute from Blacksburg to Radford for a year after I graduated and it was not bad at all (though this was 10 years ago). Of course I guess it depends on where your starting point is, but I lived right by Prices Fork Road which is the road you take (at least partially) to Radford from Blacksburg... it's not highway driving and there isn't really any traffic so it's not that aggravating of a drive. I can understand not wanting to add to a commute and just living in Radford, but frankly if you're throwing Christiansburg into the mix you might as well keep Blacksburg in there too.

I lived in zip code 24060, but Blacksburg really isn't a very big town and there aren't many zip codes associated with it. If you live near Prices Fork Road you can take the back road I mentioned to Radford. An example of an address there is Macado's restaurant at 922 University City Blvd 24060. If you live near South Main St in Blacksburg, your zip is still 24060 but you would probably either take 460 to 81 to Radford, or South Main to Pepper's Ferry Road (which is the backroad that meets up with above mentioned Prices Fork Road). Play around with those addresses on Google Maps (plugging in South Main St 24060 works just fine) to get a feel for it, and you can drag your route to different roads to see the time difference of highway versus routes.

These of course are not the only two areas you can live, but they might help you get an idea of the different commutes you could have. As a student I didn't exactly do a lot of exploring of the different areas families might want to live. I stayed fairly close to campus for day to day life, and rarely ventured to Christiansburg (I also know a lot has changed in both areas since I spent any significant amount of time there).

Good luck!

Just curious, where are you moving from and have you visited Blacksburg/Christiansburg/Radford?

This has brought back some good memories. Some of my fondest memories of Blacksburg are the summers when most of the students leave.
