I put this in the main VA forum, but think maybe it fits better here?

We're considering a relocation to Virginia. It seems northern VA is too pricey for us, and I've researched housing in the above mentioned counties that seem more reasonable (under $150K)

My husband works for a Time Warner Cable, and would like to travel 30 mins or so to/from the office.

We are a conservative, Christian family, we homeschool and would really like to live in a rural setting with a few acres to roam. My husband enjoys hunting and fishing, and in an ideal situation, we would love property bordering state lands.

Are there any towns in/near the counties I mentioned that we should look at over another? Franklin seems to have a higher homeschooling community, and also be more conservative, is this a correct assessment?

Which towns in Franklin would better suit us? Is there even a Time Warner Cable office in that part of Virginia? When dh does a job search, he can't do it by county, and there are pages and pages listed for Virginia...so specific town/city names would be very, very helpful! tia

We live in Maine, and visited Williamsburg last year and fell in love...and well, dh is tired of the cold, wet, Maine weather...hence the move...but as you can see, it will be hard to go house shopping from so far away!

Thank you for any and all helpful advice you can provide!

Looks Like Time Warner Cable has offices in the following VA towns/cities...Alexandria, Arlington, Danville, Dulles, Gainesville, Herndon, Manassas, Reston, Richlands, Richmond, and Sterling. All of these places, except Danville, Richlands, and Richmond, are in the greater Washington DC area. Danville is really close to the NC border. Richlands is way out west...past Blacksburg. And Richmond is way east (south of DC on I95). Danville is an independent city in Virginia, bounded by Pittsylvania County, Virginia and Caswell County, North Carolina. I'd say your choice would be between Danville and Richlands. Richlands would be my choice...more mountainous.
The median home cost in Danville is approx $108,000 and Richlands is approx $84,000. Danville is more of a city - approximately 10 times larger than Richlands (population 4,011). There are other cable companies that would likely hire someone with good experience that might put you into Roanoke County or Franklin County. Cox is one he could check out.
Hope that helps!
