blacksburg house market did not leave me an impression that it fits in "this economy" category. this "sold as is" house is not cheaper than other houses that are comparable in the neighborhood. the seller is extremely stubborn and moved out the state, I really doubt our situation is turning into " we will take care of some s tuff" any time..
By the way, did you get a good deal on the "sold as is" house?

awesome and helpful...and he'll tell you like it is.
He inspected our "as-is" purchase, and with the info he gave us, the "as-is" situation turned into a "ok, we will take care of some stuff" situation. I think that, in this economy, people are willing to work with you more if it means they can get the sale done.

we got a REALLY, REALLY good deal, great rate, and on a good street with views.
Also...it's my opinion that, in the current market, many houses are being listed "as-is" just because sellers want a fast turnover...not necessarily because there is anything major wrong with the house. Of course, there will always be bummer houses out there. But I would recommend a good inspector going over the house before you buy.

j1n, you are not in blacksburg, are you?
when I first started looking at houses, I was told the price in blacksburg hasnt dopped due to the recession. I was hoping it was just bluff , turns out its true..still multiple offer on houses. several houses we liked got off market only in couple of days...it was frustrating for me
