Ukrops
Don't be afraid to go to Ukrops. In my opinion, they have the best produce market in the region! The prices are competitive also. Today they were selling bananas for 29cents and they weren't green like Kroger is famous for!
Ukrops has a variety of fruits and veggies Kroger has never heard of!

Thanks Roanoker and Watchful! We try really hard to have the freshest produce & be charming . Our prices on some (but not most) items are higher but with a high quality larger item such as our watermelons. Tuesdays are .29cent banana days. Tomorrow be sure to check out $3.99/Lb. salad bar Wednesday. Thanks for the kind words!

WOO HOO!!!...I'll have to go there on Mondays (for the 50% off ground beef) and Tuesdays...
Usually I pay ~47cents/lb and I go through several pounds a week (I like bananas..lol)..
Plus this will be a good excuse to get into the store...i've never been to Roanoke's Ukrops

No sure dont. We have asked marketing in our meetings about that and they have been thinking about doing something like that but so far nothing. They told us in the meeting that they dont like to single certain groups out so they have stayed away from the idea. But if you ask me it would be a wonderful idea especially since so many over 50 and nursing homes are around in this area.

The Best Salad Bar in Town!
Ukrops has an awesome fresh fruit/veggie/noodle/beef etc salad bar! I saw a sign which advertises Wednesdays the bar is $3.99/lb. It is the type of salad bar you will probably never see in Roanoke. They keep it fresh, clean and it is always stocked. I believe you can use this self-service bar at most hours of the day. There is even an cafe with a dining area.
