Default VT college parties, out of control

I was speaking with a private investigator I know, and he told me that the college parties which take place in the various apartment complexes around Virginia Tech have gotten absolutely out of control... and then the intoxicated students travel to and from the bar scene in downtown Blacksburg.

Apparently it's a great source of frustration to him because the apartment managers and owners have done very little to address the situation. They are afraid that clamping down on the parties would cause the students to rent elsewhere, plus... they flat out don't want to spend the money to have security patrols.

For some reason how bad it has gotten (especially around football season) has been kept out of the newspapers.... Political reasons?

Anyone else have thoughts on this?

Welcome to Any College Town, USA.

Typically no matter how bad they get, they won't make it to any news outlet unless something more serious happens (shooting, stabbing, balcony collapse, etc...all examples that have happened at pretty much any campus all over the country)...

The "out of control" partying is everywhere...from VT to UVA to VCU (I'm sure anyone from Richmond is familiar with Grace St's 'Hell Block')

The motive for apartment owners not reacting is obvious as stated above...

The university has no motive to address these issues because addressing them would be acknowledging their existence and thus tarnishing the wholesome "University Community" image they are trying to uphold. When things that I mentioned above (violence, accidents) occur then the university will react in a "look-at-us-we're-actively-targeting-these-situations-and-restoring-the-wholesomeness-back-to-the-community" sort of way as to not scare potential students (and alumni dollars) away...

Newspapers won't touch it unless the news is really dead and they need spark up community interest to maintain readership...

Every college has it's element. So bad in terms of what?? Drunk driving? Noise ordinances? Fights?

How far are the apt complexes from the bars?

Default VT a party place?

You have to be kidding! VT is a very conservative place in my opinion. It is nothing like many large universities such as LSU, University of Florida, University of Texas, etc. Maybe its because its made of much smarter people than those "institutions of higher learning". That is so funny!!
