Default Somewhere to take my kid swimming

so my family and I just relocated to Goodview, VA.My son loves to go swimming. I've brought him to Smith Mountain Lake a couple times and a local pool, but just starting a new job I don't have all that much money to be paying to bring him swimming. Can anyone help me find some local swimming holes?

Thanks

I don't know of any pools that are free in the area? Roanoke City pools are $3 for adults and $2 for kids:

The nicely set up Smith Mountain Lake Community Beach in Franklin County is about $3.50 each.

How old is your son? My daughters are 7 and 9 and they love creek walking. Lots of free creeks out there One of the nicest places for playing in a creek is the newly renovated Garst Mill Park Greenway and creek:

Hope this helps!

if you like to get away one weekend get on Rt. 220 and head north to Clifton Forge and go to Douthat (Dow-that) State Park its really nice, you have the lake, a beach area, and a creek. Also campgrounds, trails, and cabins to stay in its realllllllll funnnn
