Default Weather in Christiansburg, VA -VS- Kingston, NY

Hi, Can anyone describe the difference in the summertime weather between Christiansburg, Va area and Kingston, NY area? Acording to my searches the temperatures are about the same and the humidty is a little less in Christiansburg. Does this seem right?

Thanks, dapad

Hi dapad:

I lived in the Hudson Valley for 20 years and now here in western Virginia for the past two summers. There is no discernible difference in summertime weather between the two locations.

Christiansburg has always been a cooler place to be in the summer due to its elevation compared to Roanoke Valley. Air conditioning is still a necessity in summer. I know people in Craig County(north of Roanoke) who live at the top of the mountain who don't need a/c in summer.

Thanks for the help. I plan to retire in a few years and thought the Christiansburg Va area might be a good place to get away from the cold winters of NY and yet not be too hot for the summer month. My wife doesn't want to move to any place any hotter than where we are now, so any convincing comments are welcome.

Thanks again, dapad
