Default Rocky Mount: places to stay?

I will be heading to Rocky Mount next week (from NY) for a job interview. I have been to Roanoke, never to Rocky Mount. Can anyone recommend a decent, reasonably priced motel? Is it a nice place to live/work? I am used to country settings, so that is fine. Also, info about the town, pictures, etc. would be greatly appreciated.

Holiday Inn Express
395 Old Franklin Trnpk., Rocky Mount, VA‎ - (877) 863-4780

Comfort Inn Rocky Mount
730 N. Main St.
Rocky Mount, VA 24151
(540) 489-4000

Both are pretty reasonable in price and convenient to the area.
There are smaller, cheaper motels listed online but I'm not too familiar with any of them.

Rocky Mount is a nice place. Not bad. Its a bit too small and "sleepy" of a place for me, but as you're used to a country setting, you should be fine.

I guess one of the great things about Rocky Mount is that its only half an hour from Roanoke, VA and 15 minutes from Smith Mountain Lake. It's very convenient to just about anywhere in the region.
