Any unique reception ideas?

How many guests are you looking to have? Two years ago, my wife and I had our reception at the Maridor Bed & Breakfast. Was an awesome place, great atmosphere, and the co-owner was also the chef, so there were no worries about finding a caterer.
The reception room holds a maximum 80 people, if I remember right.
Also, congrats!

Not cheap - but a reception in the atrium of the Taubman museum would certainly be a night to remember!

How about one of the local wineries? I always thought that would be cool, especially if you like wine

Look into renting Fishburne Mansion - which is owned by the City of Roanoke and located near downtown Roanoke. The city rents it out very cheap, and you can bring your own alcohol and caterer. My wife and I got married there ten years ago, and it was an awesome setting. I'd say the reception is easily 4,000 plus square feet...we had somethink like 150 guest...
Only potential problem is that even when we got married 10 years ago, the mansion was falling into disrepair and (if) the City has not put any money into fixing it up, it might today be too cruddy for a wedding reception. You might want to call Roanoke's Parks and Recs Dept. and ask or go by and check it out...best of luck

What about Hotel Roanoke? Anyone have thoughts on a wedding reception there?
