Bummer. Too bad they're not talking to Wegman's. Now that's a great grocery store --- and a consistent Fortune magazine top company to work for, too. That would be great for our friend teebyrd.

There are lots of emotions running through the minds all of Ukrop's associates right now. Personally we are all tired of hearsay and will be happy when a concrete decision comes out whether it be about our store or the company as a whole. Its pathetic that we hear about what is happening with our company from the news media and not from our own company or CEO. I am truly dedicated to my job but feel that myself and my fellow co-workers have been somewhat let down by all of this. I will be so happy when this mess is over and we can move on either it be with our jobs that we currently have or start making plans for our future endeavors. I am so tired of being stressed out worrying what we will hear or see in the paper tomorrow. My patience is over. Ps. just saw your post headnsouth and I appreciate you mentioning me...

Knowledge is power. The first rule about companies is never trust them completely. Money does things to people and the threat of bankruptcy is even worse. Always be planning the backup if this gig does not work out. When it does come you won't have the mind to plan. Trust me, Ive gone through a company closing down a regional office. Never fun. With luck they will sell but if your store sales were poor I'd look for an out ASAP. They might keep the winners and shut the rest and you'll get zilch.
Good luck.

I'd hate to see Ukrops close, but if it does, perhaps we'll get a Whole Foods or Earth Fare in its place...

Isnt there a new Whole Foods on W Broad in ir near Short Pump now?
I swore I saw one down there a few months ago or maybe I was just seeing things. I know it isnt Roanoke, but it does help out in the RIC market
