What is the best place to live in Augusta county for accessibility to shopping malls? Is it better to live closer to Charlottesville or Harrisonburg? Staunton/Waynesboro area doesn't seem to have much in the way of shopping centers.

Hi there, I actually live in Staunton and yes shopping here is lame. Between the two towns, Waynesboro is getting more shopping options with the town center that was completed a few years ago.(Target, Kohls, Bed Bath and Beyond, etc) Waynesboro will put you about 20 mins west of Charlottesville which has much more shopping options and if you don't mind driving a bit is slightly closer to Richmond which might as well be New York compared to here. Waynesboro however has no character, it is more of a suburb type town with most people commuting to C-ville. Staunton will put you about 20-25 minutes south of Harrisonburg. While H-burg has most big box stores and a Costco, it doesn't have much of a local flair. There is also no Best Buy if that even mattters. It does have a nice theater which ironically C-ville lacks. Staunton has more character than Waynesboro too. It all depends where you will be working. Staunton is only 10 miles away from Waynesboro, and if you settle in Fishersville you would be equal distance from Harrisonburg and Charlottesville. I actually work in Charlottesville and do most of my shopping and errands there. I prefer C-ville but it is wildly overpriced for the size town it is. Hope this helps and good luck. BTW you might get more hits possibly on the general VA forum as Roanoke is 80 miles south of Staunton.
