Default Restaurant ideas??

I was wondering if anyone could recommend a good restaurant...my husband's birthday is in a few weeks, and I would like to take him somewhere special. We are still rather new to the area, so I'm not familiar with most of the places around here. We are not drinkers, so the bar scene is not important. It can't be anything too outrageously expensive, but it is his birthday, so I can splurge a little. Maybe somewhere with a little atmosphere...great food....I'm open to any suggestions. Thanks a bunch!

"Outrageously expensive" is different for everyone but if you're looking for something really special, how about The Homestead. It is about an hour and a half from Roanoke (assuming you're in Roanoke!). Of course, as a full resort it is expensive but you can't beat if for elegant atmosphere and wonderful dining experience.

The drive to Hot Springs is unbelievably beautiful through the mountains although you may have missed the peak of color for leaves.

The Homeplace in Catawba is awesome and very different. Down home family style all you can eat comes to your table in bowls. It would certainly be different and the drive out there is beautiful! Check it out... Home Place Restaurant - Catawba, VA thats the reviews.
