I don't mind snow but when trees and power lines come down it's no fun.

If I loose power I have no heat pump, no stove, no blower on the fire place to move the warm air out into the room and no water since the well pump is electric.

I brought the kerosene heater out of storage along with the Coleman stove and filled lots of gallon and 2 liter bottles with water for me, the dogs, the barn cats and possibly the horses and goat if the little seep that heads down to the main creek is frozen over.

No computer, no stereo, no cordless phones and no Netflix movies to watch. Glad I love to read and have a good stack of stuff waiting for me. Plus four big dogs for those 3 dog nights. Lots of polar fleece and good waterproof boots so I can get down the hill to feed the horses.

Best grab a nice hot shower tonight in case I can't take one for several days.

I'm hoping that being prepared for the worst will help prevent it.
