19F Looking to rent a room in the Roanoke area. (apartment, to live in)

I'm getting pretty desperate, posting nearly everywhere online that I possibly can, but here's the deal:

I'm a 19 year old female, attending Virginia Western full-time and working part-time at UPS (in the evenings). I'm in need of a room somewhere in the Roanoke area. Pricing is pretty negotiable, but I'd like to keep it around $300 a month, if possible.

I don't mind sharing an apartment/house with loads of other roommates, or simply renting out somebody's basement/guest room for a while. Hell, if you've got a fold-out couch and somewhere I can put my stuff (and preferably somewhere I can shower), I'll work with that too (and pay you for it).

If anyone has any information for me, or perhaps suggestions on where else I can look for a place to crash, that'd be wonderful.

Also, someone once told me that "back in the day" (probably quite a few decades ago), they paid a monthly fee to live in some sort of ... community housing with around twelve other people, where they got a bed and had a community kitchen. Do places of this sort exist now?
