Ok so I was in the area yesterday for the home inspection and ate at Carbones. Maybe it was because it was just lunch time slices but it seemed kind of doughy and bland. Not bad but not what i'd call great....I think just bland... Does any one know how the chinese rest across the street is?

If I remember correctly, you are from downstate somewhere. If so, try Main Street Pizza in Brockport, Brooklyn Joe's in Henrietta, Pizza Stop in the city, even Cam's in various locations (closest is Spencerport probably). Most "Rochester-style" pizza is thicker and doughy like Carbones...the more popular places like Mark's, Pontillos, etc. are going to be like that. The best way to get pizza like that is with a few toppings (sausage and mushrooms is my favorite).
Rochacha-
Thanks for the info-your right i'm from Jersey. I think you might be right about the toppings maybe the grease from some peperoni would do the trick. Like I said it wasn't bad just different and I think it may be fun trying it diiferent ways till I get it right.
As a fellow pizza fanatic, I have to say that I think Pizza Shack on W. Ridge Road (just south of Spencerport) is the best pizza around. You should try that with their garlic wings (best wings IMO too).
If you want NY Style pizza, I would go with Pizza Stop in downtown...very good also. Carbones is good with the sauce and the crust tastes good, but I'm not a fan of the thickness (it's a little thicker than Pizza Shack).
Pontillos on Empire (New York style)
Little Ninos on Culver (sicilian style)
My most favorite ever is Checker Cab Pizza on Ridgeway and Dewey (if they're still there). The place is a hole in the wall but the slices are YOUGE and they are paper thin new york style and back in the day cheese slices were $.99

Checker Flag closed after a fire happened in that building (there was a shady bar there and a laundromat).
