Rochester Neighborhood Inquiry...
How is the area in Rochester north of Clifford Ave, west of Joseph Ave, South of Norton St, and east of St Paul St? I am looking at a possible investment there and would like to know if it is a bad area or an area that is stable.
Thank you.

That is one of the worst areas in the city. Do not buy property there. Many people in the area live on government assistance, tenants would not be reliable. Constant shootings/murders/gang activity. That area had race riots a few decades ago and never recovered.

YIKES.....if you are looking to invest in the City of Rochester, I'd suggest Downtown, the Park Avenure area, or Charlotte near the Lake. Avoid Clifford avenue or anywhere near there at all costs.

Stay away from anything in the 14621 zip code. This includes the neighborhoods of marketview heights, 14621 community, the crescent, polish town. There might be other neighborhoods but I can't think of them. But yea, just stay away from that zip code.

14605, 14611, 14619 (for the most part, some of it isn't too bad), and 14608 whith the exception of the Corn HIll neighoborhood should be avoided. 14604 (downtown), 14607, 14610, 14620, 14612 (charlotte) and 14609 east of Culver road are all nice areas of the city.

Yeah... I agree with all the other posts. Its not a stable area. Sadly, lots of the city crime is in that region of the city. Lots of lower cost homes and rental properties. Which is not to say it would be a bad investment.... if thats what you know going in.

Wow, thanks guys for the input--very, very much appreciated. I'll steer clear of that part of the city. I have another house I'm looking at on Garson Ave, zip 14609. Seems from the posts, that this area is decent??

Garson ave is not that bad. Garson ave between Culver and Merchants road is fine. Once you start getting closer to Goodman, it gets a little sketchy, nothing horrible though. Some of the scumbags from the neighborhoods mentioned above are starting to move in and ruining it for others, but overall it isnt horrible.

Re Taft road ... area between Goodman and Culver north of Norton. The steets in that particular small area are OK, BUT it has deteriorated from what it was years ago and you are VERY close to a bad area ... off Goodman, south of Norton, which has also continued to deteriorate over the years. I just don't see this area as one of the area in the city that will pick up, but rather would stay the same (at best), or continue to deteriorate (more likely) as persons move out of the city into the suburbs.
There's lots of cool and nice areas in the city -- this is not one. I would recommend the SouthWedge over that area ... can probably still get houses in the same price that you are probably considering, and it is a much better, hipper area.
